Shai Hills Resource Reserve is the closest wildlife park to Accra and offers a unique opportunity to experience nature, history, and culture in one destination. Visitors can get close to wildlife such as baboons, antelopes, zebras, ostriches, fruit-eating bats, and various bird species.The tour includes a visit to the historic caves within the reserve, which were once used as safe hideouts during wars in ancient times by local tribes. The reserve was originally home to the Shai people before they were displaced by the British in 1892, and evidence of their settlement and craftsmanship can still be seen today.Guests will also explore the newly opened Museum of Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Shai People, which showcases the rich history, traditions, and way of life of the Shai community.

SHAI HILLS RESOURCE RESERVE

We will also visit a small fishing community along the Volta River, where you will be introduced to modern tilapia farming methods and enjoy a guided stroll through the village. This experience offers a firsthand look at daily life in a traditional Ghanaian village, with opportunities to interact with the locals and learn about their culture and way of life.

KOKONTE KPEDZI VILLAGE & FISH FARMING 

We will end the day with a 30-minute peaceful and scenic boat cruise along the Volta River, taking in the lush natural vegetation and rolling hills that surround the river. Guests will then enjoy lunch at the beautiful Royal Senchi Resort before beginning the journey back to Accra.
